Pianist Franck Amsallem leads his quartet through a series of introspective originals that fail to stick in one's mind; this is what the legendary jazz critic Nat Hentoff refers to as noodling. Although all of the musicians involved in this recording (saxophonist Tim Ries, bassist Riccardo Del Fra, and drummer Daniel Humair) are talented players, the music simply fails to make any lasting impression. Instead check out his earlier CD Another Time.
