  • We Say...

In the course of his 40-plus year career, Memphis mainstay Jim Dickinson has played with Aretha Franklin, Bob Dylan, Ry Cooder and the Rolling Stones, produced records by Big Star, Mudhoney, T-Model Ford, Alex Chilton and the Replacements and served as a living repository of the Memphis music scene. On this raw and powerful collection, he culled the best of his private recordings — with fife-and-drum bandleader Otha Turner, Memphis blues hero Furry Lewis and other local luminaries. The songs you’ll hear look back towards the 19th century, and forward to Elvis, Stax and the music you’ll hear in and around Memphis today.
